Perfect. It looks smaller on the website, than in person. When I look at the stitching, I can see what you mean, when you say this thick leather is difficult to work with.
I think I could fill it with bricks, and it wouldn't even stress it. I would break down before it would. Excellent quality and construction. |

| A couple of months ago I was looking for a bag for my wife and me. Like me she lugs a lot of stuff to work. After a day or so of web browsing I stumbled upon Saddleback Leather! Never had a second thought about getting one for each of us!

I thought a small Saddleback leather briefcase would be the perfect gift for my dad since he likes to spend time in nature, take photographs, and paint watercolor. Not only that, but I thought your bag is a perfect reflection of my dad's character - strong, hard working, resilient, worldly...I told him all about your bags (quality of leather and workmanship, that it's waterproof and will last forever, and increase in beauty and character with time and use, etc.). | At present I own three of your bags, and the backpack is on the way. Your bags are with out a doubt built like the old time quality products I miss now days. At 63 and counting,
I remember my mother's old leather suitcase, quite similar to yours Dave, but not as well made. I always had an affection for heavy, oil tanned leather, with the smell, ah the smell, and silky feel of endless durability. To own a quality piece always make you happy when you use it. Throughout my life, I've found that it always pays to buy the best. That is why I've bought yours after looking at many, many,others. I realize that they will be around long after I'm gone. I tell my self that the kids will have something to remember me by.
When you compare the worth of an item, so much more than just the price becomes important.
I consider my bags to be an investment. True, I could have bought a new flat screen TV for the cost of them, but where would that put me in ten years?
Dave, each time I watch an old western movie, I'm always looking at the leather goods and comparing. Nothing that I have seen anywhere, new or old, can compare to your stuff.

| I have just received my dream bag this morning after it spent a day at Malaysian Customs at the airport, I was asked a few times by Pos Malaysia and Malaysian Customs officers whether I bought the bag for my own use or for selling, after that two custom officers commented how nice and solid my bag was, they have not seen it before. I told them it's the Best in the World, after that three minutes later a pretty girl asked me about my bag as I opened the box to see inside. I saw a lot of people looking at my bag as I left the building, I also showed it to three of my friends during lunch time and all of them said the best things about my bag. I thank you. |

| Saddleback leather makes the best bags EVER. I work in an international airport and I see bags bags bags all day. Nearly all of them are damaged in some way, especially as mentioned on your site, zippers and wheels. Even the "good stuff" ie Louis Vuitton, Coach (when they're not knock offs) don't hold up. I've seen literally hundreds of thousands of bags and I've never seen anything even close to the equal of Saddleback. I recommend your bags to everyone I know. |

| When I went to Thailand with my suitcase....I was getting comments as soon as I got to the airport - and this is England, we're not as forward as you Americans. This carried on right through my trip - people on boats from one island to another, people in hotels carrying my bags, cab drivers, etc. The first words of my old friend, whom I had not seen for two years, were 'nice suitcase'. The owner of the beach where I stayed - a very important man - came over to compliment it. I was starting to feel jealous of the attention it was getting.
It's the same with the briefcases when I'm at home. I'm a teacher, and the kids at my school are always commenting on them, as do strangers in the street. They also jump a bit when I tell them the price, and when they feel the weight, but I always tell them that I have never spent better money. | Well, I have to tell you that the bag is just beautiful....
My husband wanted me to open the box that held HIS
briefcase. I said no way....Finally, he gets
his little knife [to open the box]. He didn't pull
the paper out at first, he just held his face over the box and took in
a deep breath. "Oh that smells so good!" Out comes the paper and finally
he pulls his bag out of the box. He looked at it, admired it, opened
it, smelled it again, and then he passed it over to me. I was so
surprised at how soft the leather was....[my housband] will
never have to buy another briefcase again.

| I recently purchased one of your briefcases from you and since then some interesting things have happened. I received my bag right before I was leaving for New York City then onto Brazil for work. Here's what happened...
Day One: I was doing some quick shopping before leaving at Water Tower Place in Chicago, when the owner of a well known high end Italian bag store and his wife chased me down in the mall. They apparently saw me walk past their shop as they were leaving and had to know who made my new briefcase, after an exhausting round of questioning from them (about twenty minutes or so) I was finally on my way. Just a heads up, they have it stuck in their minds that they will be able to talk you into allowing them to sell your bags at their store, I tried to explain to them over and over again that you did not do retail sales but they simply wouldn't have it.
Day Two: A women saw me while we were going through security at O'Hare and literally went running after me, the entire length of the American Airlines Terminal demanding to know where I got my bag.
Day Three: During my brief stop over in New York City, I had a meeting with one of my clients, a well known fashion house which I do the stage design/lighting design for them for fashion week. I was expecting a quick in and out with the marketing department and for the most part that is what happened. However, on my way out I bumped into [the founder of the fashion house] himself, and besides the usual hellos, he was more focused on the bag I was carrying then anything else. He also gave me a long list of questions and also took well over twenty minutes to do so. So you might receive an order sometime soon from the soho district of New York City, the order's probably for him.
Day Four: After landing in Brazil, I have had five people come up to me and just ask me about your bag, I have never in my life seen people get so excited over a piece of luggage. Granted I can't blame them, since I know after owning one of your products, my great grand children will be fighting over it. Thank you for making such a wonderful product and best wishes. |

It is a little bit heavy, but so much higher quality than any other I have
owned. I am surprised at how comfortable the backpack configuration is.
I travel the world a lot and look forward to my new look. I have already had

Part of the mystique is how original it is. I hope you are very successful,
but not so successful that you ruin the originality of my bag. I may have

My family and friends I live with didn't tell me it came in, so the box was waiting for me as a 'surprise' when I got home. I opened it up and by all that is holy I love the smell of leather so, already I was in heaven! I couldn't believe it was even better than the pictures!!! It hasn't much left my sight in the last week, I take it everywhere, even short trips to the store. | I just wanted to write and say a big thank you for getting me such a good price on one of your "bulletproof" bags (as I like to call it), and for getting it to me before my Yosemite trip. My Canon camera is pretty heavy, and combined with it, and my zoom lens, its several pounds of weight on my shoulder. Your bag handled it fine, and the wide shoulder pad made it much easier on me! I found the side pockets to be handy for throwing my lens cap into quickly, and the top handle a great addition when I needed to move locations quickly without throwing the whole bag over my shoulder.
About half way through my many hikes through the Yosemite valley I noticed the bag was bouncing a lot on my rear as I hiked. I thought about shortening the strap, but low and behold, you had thought of a solution way before me. I saw the two backfacing "D" rings, simply hooked the trigger snaps to them, and shortened the strap a couple notches, DONE. The bounce on my hip was instantly reduced by half or more.
It was nice not to have to worry about the bag getting wet on the "mist trail" to Vernal Falls, or setting down in the dirt or on the rocks wherever I happened to be.
I was also stopped on a trail at one point by a young woman who asked about the bag. I was pleased to tell her a little about it, and I even slipped her a business card, which I will now do every time someone expresses the interest.
So, to summarize, I applaud you on a bag very well made, and stylish to boot, I love the vintage feel that drove me to the bag in the first place. I will be buying another in the eventual future.

almost moved to tears. Not because it was a great looking bag
(although it really is) but because this present for my husband
represented the culmination of years of hard work, heartache, sorrow
and perseverance. My husband and I got married when I was 18 and he
was 20. We've been married for 16 years and through these years, we've
overcome a lot of adversity. He's triumphed over illness, worked full
time while attending PSU full time, and dealt with the death of our

| Okay, so I've just picked my bag from my local courier as I had to pay the customs charges. I was so intent on seeing it I opened the box in their carpark like some kid on Christmas day. I must say I was a bit worried, this was an expensive purchase for me and one that I've wanted to make for several years. I've been looking for a really good leather bag for almost 10 years - something that would look like real quality (not just a flash brand), something that would take the knocks and scrapes in it's stride and age like leather should. And the box had been a bit squashed! And it is lovely. It smells great, a rich, deep leather scent that just shouts quality and takes me back to a old leather worker's workshop in Crete (probably where my bag fetish started all those years ago)... It looks very handsome with quality leather, well cut, with neat stitching, even better than the photography (maybe you need some new close-ups - to try and show people just how good the bags look). It really is like something that will last me decades and decades. Something that will travel with me, share my adventures and age alongside me. It's more than worth it. I can't wait to take it to work with me...

| My wife questioned why I need two, and having them side by side, it is obvious to me.
On light days, I will take the smaller 14 inch, on days when I have more stuff to carry the 17 inch will be the one!
I put them next to the Coach bags that I have, and it is like putting a Chevy next to a Mercedes. Man, the leather is so much more durable, the bag is so much nicer, and there is literally no comparison between the two. Your bags are gorgeous!

| I want to thank you even before I place my order for a bag. Your bags are not something that is in our budget nor can we afford it on one income, but I have saved for a couple of years and have sold many, many things to raise the money for this bag and now, on my husband's 40th birthday, I am going to buy him one. You see he deserves it, he deserves a work bag and a set of matching luggage to take on a long, lazy vacation somewhere warm, but alas, the bag will do for now.
3 years ago I was diagnosed with a fast progressing multiple sclerosis. I went from riding for others to being rode for. I went from teacher and mom to bed full time and a wheelchair. I lost much of my memory and my life. My dear husband had to work two jobs, raise our then 12, 15, and 17 year old daughters. Ouch... teens, lol. Well little by little I have come out of that to where I am now and things are different for my family, but one wonderful gift I gained was the ever growing love for my husband who never complained, even after having to go from a 3 car family to taking the bus. He just seems to keep positive and just keeps pressing forward! We will survive this, and that is why I am getting this bag, I want to give him a bag as strong and durable as our love, our life and our marriage. He wears all second hand clothes, always has to replace buttons and such, has even duct taped the bottom of his shoes to make them last! We saw these bags a few years ago and just were amazed at their beauty. I pray it lasts our lifetime for I won't be able to buy another, lol! |

| Received my new briefcase the other day and wanted to say MAN IS THIS BAG COOL! Right out of the box it screams character and will only get better with age. I have carried some kind of briefcase for the last 25 years, but this is the first that made a statement about its owner. It says I am a secure man, not bound by stereotypes of the corporate world, but walks boldly as an individual. A powerful man to be reckoned with, but is still gentle with women, children, and small furry animals. A man who lives the adventure, fights the good fight, and rescues the beauty all before his afternoon board meeting. Above all, it says I am humble man of substance and grace.
The quality is so outstanding that I have no doubts that, just like you said, will pass it on to my son. In a world where merchants typically overstate their product, it is refreshing to find one such as yourself whose product more than measures up to its billing.

| The 12" Tobacco Brown bag arrived and it's wonderful. I plan to use it as both a camera bag and computer laptop bag. I travel to Asia very frequently and I have always been looking for a heavy duty carry-on bag that can fit my 12" Dell XPS Laptop, along with my ever present Leica camera bodies (M8 and M6), 3 or 4 lenses, passport, iPod, phone, and other misc. travel items. The bag fits all of the above and it's extremely comfortable to carry.
I plan on giving my new Saddleback bag a good working out and along with my Leicas, my new Saddleback bag will be traveling with me all around the world. |

| I received the bag and it is exactly what I have been looking for. In fact I thought it was so great I bought suitcase as well. I have been through so many bags traveling over the last 20 years, so many times returning from a trip with my laptop bag under my arm because the handle and strap had given out. I don't know how many times I have had to fish the items from my bag out of the overhead bin because the bag latch broke while a line of anxious passengers stood behind me. I finally think that I have found a bag that will be able to withstand the abuse of the road. | Bag arrived Monday and is F@#$%&* awesome!! Great, quality work! I
have to tell you...I read about 30 reviews of your briefcase all over
the internet before I purchased it. I saw a few post-ers saying they
were bothered by the "workmanship" that had gone into the bag. Not
the quality of the materials, but some very crooked stitching...glue
seeping out in places...and that bothered me a little. I am big,
tough dude and can appreciate "rough gear" but it still needs to be
made with care. Well, I'll tell you I did not see one stitch out of
place or any uneven seams on my bag. Just a 100% excellent product.
I am so glad I bought this, I still think the dark coffee brown is
best and it's great to see QUALITY PRODUCTS from American
Entrepreneurs. |

| I got the bag yesterday and all I can say is WOW. It really is true, you get what you pay for. Everything about this bag screams quality.Within a couple of hours of the delivery I had all my EDC (Every Day Carry) stuff in it and it is now attached to me. It also smells great, I've got it in my office with me now and the whole office smells like fresh new leather. The rings and clips alone are awesome, the quality of each of the hardware components is top notch. I can't see anything I'll ever do with the bag causing any harm or damage to it.

| My bag arrived today and I can't express how excited I am. I have wanted a bag like this as long as I can remember. I purchased this bag as a gift to myself for finishing graduate school and getting a job teaching. I used Brooks Proofide on it and it looks fabulous. I will order some of the leather care products you recommended in your email when its due for a touch up. Additionally, I wanted to let you know that I took my bag out today and was asked or stopped by about ten people who either wanted to know where to get one or to just tell me how much they loved the look of my bag. Needless to say I ran out of your business cards in about fifteen minutes. I would be happy to keep some in my bag to hand out but I will need a restock of them. 80's, I am reminded of the television show, Good Times. Not sure if
you ever watched it but there was one episode in which James Evans
(the dad) passed away. Overcome with grief, Florida Evans (the mom)

sentiments regarding not only the bag, but also the customer service

Peabody was once known as the leather capitol of the United States.
In fact, our high school football team's name is the Tanners and our
mascot is a steer. The city once had over 15 large leather tanneries

condominium at "The Tannery Apartments". Having grown up in a place
where everyone's parents were involved in leather in one way or
another, I thought I would never be impressed with a leather bag of
any sort. However, impressed is not the term I would use, amazed and

| I just returned from Speedweek at the Bonneville Salt Flats, where I crewed on the Danny Thompson E85 Mustang. The car ran an incredible 254 mph....and qualified for a World Record. Unfortunately engine problems prevented us from backing the record up. My bag made the trip with me and received numerous praises and held up fine to the punishment of being on the salt for 10 days. I have 3 of your bags now and plan on acquiring the duffel bag and satchel before we head to the salt next year for another attempt at a World Land Speed Record...wish us luck...and keep making those World Class bags. |

| The bag. It rocks. I bought one of your bags and nary a day passes when the bag is not used somehow. Big enough for my 17" laptop and lunch, small enough that I don't feel burdened by taking it around. I can convert it to a backpack when I ride my bike around town and on the fly switch it back to its normal satchel mode. In the month I have had it, I'll say a good dozen people throughout the Midwest and East Coast have asked me where they could get their hands on one like it. My college roommate threatened to steal it, should he ever catch it lying around, just so he could smell it occasionally - real leather is one of those things you can't synthetically put in an air freshner. And, as I was led to believe on your website, the bag has gotten better with daily wear and tear, not that anything is tearing. You have created an awesome product. Thank you. |

| After living with my Saddleback Leather briefcase for a couple of
months, I have to admit that I'm a bit disappointed. I'd read all the
superlatives on your website and was expecting to receive a nice
bag, but after seeing it in person I honestly think you're under-selling
it! I know that nobody will believe it, but this briefcase is honestly
better than your website makes it out to be! I was surprised at just
how robust the hardware is. The rings, buckles, and clasps are easily
twice as sturdy as anything I've seen on another briefcase. I was also
surprised at the thickness of the leather. The top flap is almost 3/16"
thick! This is the briefcase I want with me if I'm ever in a knife fight...
Owning this bag makes me the coolest guy I know. |
